Lions win series over Trojans

HANNIBAL, Mo. – The bats came alive on Saturday for the No. 8 Lions (16-4, 8-1 AMC) as they took down Hannibal-LaGrange (7-12, 1-5 AMC) 14-1 in eight innings to take two games in the three-game series.

Josh Sears hit his fourth home run of the season in the win and had two RBIs on two hits.

Isaac Howeth had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs, and Zach Sanders brought in five runs on two hits while also scoring two runs.

It was a three-hit, three-run afternoon for Cody McSwain, and Bryce Lester went 3-for-5 in the leadoff spot with three RBIs, including a leadoff triple to start the game.

Jacob Sawyers got the start on the mound and threw seven innings, striking out eight batters and only walking one. Seth Selby finished things off in the eighth with one strikeout.

The Lions will return home on Tuesday for a scheduled double-header against No. 21 Lyon College. Game one is set to start at 3 p.m.
