MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions went down 3-1 to Faulkner (Ala.) University at the Eagles' home field, Billy Hilyer Stadium, in Montgomery, Alabama at 2:00 pm on Saturday the 27th of August.
The first half of the game was fast-paced with much ball movement and produced all of the goals of the game. It was followed by a slower-paced second half.
The first goal of the game was made extremely quickly around the two-minute mark of the game by Anabel Cuthbert with the Faulkner Eagles (2-0). The Eagles kept their momentum and scored at 4:46 again shot by Anabel Cuthbert.
The Lady Lions (1-1) kept up their attack after Faulkner's early lead in the game with two shots on goal in the first half of the game. Lady Lions' third shot on goal produced the results they were looking for.
Zoe Stom put the Lady Lions on the board at 22:46 took advantage of Faulkner's goalie coming up too far out of her box and scored with a strong shot which Faulkner made no attempt at defending.
Shortly after the Lady Lions' goal, the first yellow card of the game would be given to Remmie Ferla from Faulkner University at 24:01.
Faulkner's third and final goal of the game would be at 29:05 to put the game away 3-1.
The second half was marked by a temperature of 91 degrees Fahrenheit with a heat index of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and a growing storm that would cause the cancellation of the men's Freed-Hardeman vs. Faulkner soccer match planned for 4:30 that same day.
Brooke Latham ended the game with six saves and the full 90 minutes played. Both Stom and Sara Becerra ended the game with two shots on goal and also played all 90 minutes.

The Lady Lions' next matchup will be the Freed-Hardeman home opener at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex in Henderson against Williams Baptist (Ark.) on Tuesday, August 30. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
