Satterly buckets 24, leads FHU to big win

LEBANON, Tenn. — Participating in Cumberland (Tenn.) University's Rosa Stokes Classic, the No. 24 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions had a slow start, but kicked things into gear to take care of the Simmons College of Kentucky Falcons 76-50.

A 3-pointer in the final minute from Simmons put the Lady Lions behind 11-10 after the first quarter.

Despite not allowing her any points in the first quarter, Simmons (3-8) could not stop Kelsey Bender in the second quarter with the junior forward going 6-9 to bucket 12 points in the paint. FHU would end the quarter on an 8-0 run with Kaylee Odom's layup being followed by another Satterly 3-pointer, with KJ White sending the Lady Lions to the locker room in celebration, making the half-court shot as the halftime buzzer sounded to put FHU on top 40-27

Satterly opened the third quarter with a layup and a long ball before White and Chumley drove into the lane for layups. Raegan Purvine put a bow on a the third quarter with a 3-pointer to set the score at 59-38.

After White hite a long ball, Simmons put a fright in the Lady Lions in the fourth quarter, out-scoring FHU 10-1 across the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. But it was all FHU to close the game with Alaina Stiles' layup at 1:06 giving the Lady Lions their 13th straight unanswered point to close the book on the 76-50 victory.

The Lady Lions nearly doubled the Falcons on the boards, out-rebounding Simmons 41-23, collecting 17 second-chance points. FHU moved the ball well, out-assisting Simmons 19-3 with eight of the nine Lady Lions to play tonight recording at least one helper
