HENDERSON — The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions returned to the Josh Riley Soccer complex where they battled the No. 16 Cumberland University Phoenix. The Mid-South Conference battle ended with the Phoenix claiming the 7-0 victory.
The Lady Lions (4-7-0, 0-2-0 MSC) kept the Phoenix off the board until a CU shot was able to get past and into the net at 10:23. Cumberland was able to tack on a second goal while the Lady Lions were still hunting for their first shot before the halftime horn.
Abby Schwarz got the first attempt for the Lady Lions with her shot being batted away by the Cumberland (10-3-0, 2-10 MSC) keeper.
Zoe Rush had the second attempt for FHU with her shot being saved in the 81st minute. All the while the Phoenix continued to score until the 7-0 final.
Ava Pierce stayed in next for the Lady Lions, recording 14 saves.
