NASHVILLE — Known for their stellar shooting, the No. 7 Freed-Hardeman Lions had their best night from the floor, going 33-54 to shoot 61% in an 89-62 win over the Fisk (Tenn.) University Bulldogs.

Makai Vassell drew first blood for the Lions (7-1) with a pair of jumpers before reigning Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Peyton Law took over to bit back-to-back jumpers. The speed of the Lions helped with FHU scoring 26 points off of a fast break with break points from Brian Carter and Law coming in the middle of a 7-0 run ending at 12:02 with the Lions leading 15-11. Phil Horton bucketed the first 3-pointer of the game for FHU to spark a 12-0 run ending with the men in maroon maintaining a 27-15 lead midway through the first half. Ryley McClaran tallied a 3-pointer late in the half before Vassell put the final points on the board in the first period with the Lions holding a 45-30 lead.

Proving his range, Law opened the second half with a 3-pointer; however, the Bulldogs (3-6) connected on back-to-back long balls. Horton and McClaran were joined by Jordan Stephens in the middle of the half with 3-pointers to jump to a 71-53 lead.
