HENDERSON -- With a full house in the Brewer Sports Center to celebrate Homecoming, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions defense showed off against the Bryan (Tenn.) College Lions with a 71-45 victory.
The Lady Lions (4-0) displayed their dominance early, jumping out to an 18-3 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Lion defense forced bad shot after bad shot with the Bryan offense going one for their first 14 spanning two quarters.
Rachel Satterly got the game rolling with a 3-pointer before
Kaylee Odom and
Carissa Curtis connected for points.
Lucy Curry made the quarter end on a high note for FHU with a 3-pointer to end the frame with a 15-point lead.
Bryan (1-2) was able to find the hoop at the start of the second quarter by scoring the first four points of the frame; however,
Alaina Stiles got hot down the stretch to score six points in just over a minute to help the Lady Lions storm to the locker room with a 33-16 lead.
FHU set the net on fire coming out of intermission, splashing home four 3-pointers including three from Curtis.
Jenna Satterly ended the quarter on a good note with second-chance points to give the Lady Lions a 54-29 lead moving into the final quarter.
Curtis continued to be unstoppable from long range, bucketing three more 3-pointers with
Reese Moore's jumper putting the icing on the 71-45 victory.
The Lady Lions held the opposition to just 25% shooting from the floor while giving out 16 assists to Bryan's four.
Carissa Curtis led the FHU offense with 22 points, connecting for a career-high six 3-pointers.
Rachel Satterly followed with 12 points by going 4-6 from deep.
Jenna Satterly joined Curtis with the team-high eight rebounds, while
Brooklyn Crouch gave out a career-high seven assists in the victory.
