LEBANON, Tenn. — Five Lions of the No. 8 Freed-Hardeman University men's basketball team ended Thursday's Mid-South Conference matchup with the Cumberland (Tenn.) University Phoenix in a 102-61 victory.
Devin Tomlinson drained a 3-pointer - the first of 12 long balls for the Lions (21-4, 8-2 MSC) in the game. FHU would then explode on a 16-2 run capped off by a dunk from
Peyton Law to put FHU on top 21-5. A 10-point swing was followed by nine unanswered points as the Lions held a 26-point lead over the Phoenix 42-16.
Chase Fiddler bucketed a pair of late 3-pointers to end the first half leading 50-23.
Law and Fiddler began the second half with back-to-back long balls to keep pressure on the Phoenix (6-17, 2-7 MSC). The Lions would close the game on a 12-0 run ending when
Devin Hill's slam gave FHU their largest lead of the night at 47 points. FHU's offensive onslaught gave them a 102-61 victory in their final conference road game of the season.
The Lions' 67% shooting from the field was the highest percentage by Freed-Hardeman in the 2023-24 season. FHU also gave out 22 assists in the victory, while Cumberland finished with nine helpers.
Chase Fiddler was 6-9 from the field to help him to a season-high 18 points.
Sam Powell followed with a 13-point effort, while
Peyton Law tallied 12 points.
Phil Horton and
Hunter Scurlock both collected 10 points in the victory.
Geraldo Lane joined Law with eight rebounds with Law also leading the team with five assists.
