FLORENCE, Ala. — A victory in the singles round picked up a point for the Freed-Hardeman University Lions tennis team, but FHU fell to the University of Tennessee Southern FireHawks 6-1.

The Lions (3-3) fell in all three doubles matches, Merlin Boleman and Nolan Laduree lost 6-3 on doubles court No. 1 while Theo Devals and Pablo Poleo fell 6-4. Brayden Martin and Braden Young lost on the No. 3 court 6-2.

In the singles round, Merlin Bolema picked up FHU's lone point, topping UTS (1-3) FireHawk Felipe Dias 7-6 (12-10), 6-4. On the No. 2 court, Pablo Poleo dropped the first set 7-5 before retiring in the second set after winning one game. Nolan Ladree fell to Gaspar Audisio 6-3, 6-4 on court three, while Brayden Martin lost 6-1, 6-0. FireHawk Tristan Kelly bested Theo Devals 6-4, 7-5, while Braden Young finished FHU's day with a 7-5, 6-3 defeat.
