Lion tennis topped by Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Freed-Hardeman University's men's tennis team was defeated by the Bucs of Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University Tuesday afternoon 6-1.

The doubles round featured a tiebreaker on the No. 2 court when FHU (3-5) duo Theo Devals and Pablo Poleo knotted the match six-all, but the Bucs won the tiebreaker and the match 7-6 (7-2). Over on the No. 1 court Merlin Bolema and Nolan Laduree fell 6-4 while Braden Young and Grant Turner lost 6-2.

A thrilling comeback by Braden Young highlighted the No. 5 singles court for FHU when, after falling in the first set 6-3, Young battled back to win the second set 6-4 to force a first-to-10 tiebreaker. The sophomore Lion topped his CBU (6-3) opponent to win the match 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. On the No. 1 court Merlin Bolema fell 6-4, 7-5 while Pablo Poleo lost 6-2, 6-4. Nolan Laduree dropped his court 3 match 6-4, 6-3 with Theo Devals falling 6-3, 6-1. Grant Turner wrapped up FHU's day with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat.
