WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The No. 22 Freed-Hardeman University Lions and the No. 4 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots combined for 10 home runs in two games. A late comeback in the first game fell short with the Patriots winning 5-3 before a hot start by the opponent saw the Lions fall a 10-4 in game two.

The first homer of the day came in the bottom of the first when the Patriots connected for a two-run homer to lead the Lions (30-11, 10-3 MSC) 2-0 after a full inning.
The Patriots (34-5, 9-1 MSC) added three more runs in the bottom of the third after a solo home run was followed by a two-run error to put UC on top 5-0.
Jordan Carter sparked the Lions in the top of the fifth inning by leading off with a long ball to cut into UC's lead 5-1. Carter would strike again in the top of the seventh with a two-run double, but the Lions could score no more in the 5-3 defeat.
Colton Huntt (7-4) struck out four Patriots after tossing five complete innings.
Jordan Carer was 2-4 while driving in all three Lion runs.
Austin Johnson chipped in with a pair of hits.

UC - 10
The Lions (30-12, 10-4 MSC) scored all of their runs in the last three innings while the hosting Patriots plated runs in each of the first five innings.
Cumberlands (35-5, 10-1 MSC) smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the second before connecting for a grand slam in the home half of the third. A pair of solo shots was followed by an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning to see the Patriots jump to a 10-0 lead.
Brady Spring led off the top of the seventh frame with a single to left before
Christian Presley unloaded for a two-run blast to left to set the score at 10-2.
Cannon Daversa led off the top of the eighth with a solo round-tripper while Spring connected for a leadoff home run in the top of the ninth. The Lions put additional runners on base in the top of the ninth, but ran out of outs in the 10-4 loss.
Houston High (7-3) was the first of four Lion pitchers, being charged with the loss after three innings where he struck out three.
Brady Spring was 2-3 in the second game while driving in one.
Christian Presley's lone hit drove in a team-high two.
