HENDERSON — The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions got their weekend started with a bang, defeating the Bethel (Tenn.) University Lady Wildcats twice in the final homestand of the season. After besting the Cats 7-0 in game one, the Lady Lions wrapped up the day with a 3-0 win in game two.

After
Chloe Carter led off the bottom of the Freed-Hardeman (22-15, 11-8 MSC) second by reaching on an error,
Brinley Cousar laced a single into right field. After
Grayson Mayo's sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position,Â
Olivia White drove home the first two Lady Lion runs with a double to left field.
Brooklyn Jimmerson later connected for a double to drive home
Alivia Eggleston to give the Lady Lions a 4-0 lead after five full innings. The Lady Wildcats (12-23, 3-14 MSC) led off the top of the sixth inning with a single, but a double play on a strikeout and an attempted steal erased the baserunner to keep the score at 4-0.
Four singles in the bottom of the sixth included RBI hits from
Karli Quillin and
Natalie Gilmore before the pair teamed up for a double steal that ended with Quillin scoring the seventh and final FHU run.
Chloe Winters (6-5) picked up the victory in relief, entering with the bases loaded and no outs, but promptly striking out the side to start a nine-punchout performance.
Olivia White led FHU's offense, going 3-3 with three RBI in the win.
Karli Quillin had three hits with
Brinley Cousar collecting two.

The Lady Lions (23-15, 12-8 MSC) struck hard and fast in the bottom of the first inning with
Karli Quillin leading off with a double down the line in left, moving to third thanks to a single from
Natalie Gilmore. The double steal again worked to perfection with Quillin scoring the first run of the game. With
Alivia Eggleston smacking a double to left-center, Gilmore scored to give FHU a 2-0 edge.
Kiersten Mesler drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth to give the Lady Lions a 3-0 lead. Bethel (12-24, 3-15) was able to put a runner on third in the top of the sixth with one out, but the Lady Lions retired the next two batters to keep the shutout intact.
Kylee Brown (9-4) collected the complete game shutout, allowing just two hits.
Karli Quillin had two of FHU's seven hits in the victory.

The Lady Lions will face Bethel two more times on April 20 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. with a celebration of their four seniors occuring between the two games.
