HENDERSON — The No. 7 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions got back to their winning ways with a convincing victory over the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders 74-52.
Leading wire to wire, the Lady Lions (18-3, 2-3 MSC) got on the board after
Carissa Curtis tallied a 3-pointer with
Rachel Satterly following with a mid-range jumper.
Kelsey Bender chipped in with a pair of layups before Satterly ended the quarter with a triple and a pair of free throws to end the quarter with an 18-12 lead.
Freed-Hardeman and Lindsey Wilson (13-7, 1-4 MSC) traded scores to open the second quarter.
Kaylee Odom 's layup was followed by another 3-pointer from Curtis to give FHU a double digit lead at 28-18. Odom added another layup at 3:26 to give FHU their largest lead of the half at 11. The Blue Raiders ended the half on a 4-0 run, but FHU's early push helped to hold a 33-27 halftime lead.
Bender opened the third quarter with an old-fashioned three-point play before
Jenna Satterly had a steal and a score.
Lilly Kee showed off her range late a 3-pointer to push FHU's lead to 14 to end the quarter with a 51-37 lead.
As has been the case all season, the Lady Lions used the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach: out-scoring LWC 23-15. Odom led off with back-to-back layups before J. Satterly drove into the lane for a bucket before
Brooklyn Crouch joined the fray with a layup. Curtis wrapped up the game with two more 3-pointers to give FHU the 74-52 victory.
The Lady Lions forced 14 turnovers, converting those to 20 points. FHU dominated the paint to the tune of 40 points to the Blue Raiders' 20. FHU also greatly out-assisted Lindsey Wilson by 16 assists to six.
Carissa Curtis dropped four 3-pointers to help her to a team-high 18 points.
Kelsey Bender and
Kaylee Odom each tallied 13 points while
Jenna Satterly added 11.
Rachel Satterly led at the glass with seven rebounds while
Brooklyn Crouch led by tying her career high with seven assists.
