WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion volleyball team continued their league road trip against the No. 10 University of the Cumberlands Patriots. FHU fell short in the upset bid in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-17) loss.
Kills from
Marija Milic and
Audrey Orton had the Lady Lions (13-11, 1-5 MSC) start strong before
Iza Wos' kill knotted the first set 4-4. Milic had another big swing to keep FHU in striking distance before the Patriots began pulling away with a 6-1 run. Back-to-back aces from
Autumn Howard were a bright spot in the first set, but Cumberlands took the set win 25-15.
The Lady Lions got a reprieve from
Alex Howard whose kill got FHU out of a rotation late in the second set when the hosting Patriots (20-0, 6-0 MSC) jumped out to a 2-0 match lead with a 25-9 set win.
Orton and Milic connected for kills in the third set to stay within one point of the league leaders, but UC grabbed the final points to complete the sweep in a 25-17 set win.

Audrey Orton, and
Iza Wos all shared the team-high of kills with four each while
Autumn Howard led FHU in both digs with nine and aces with two.
