HENDERSON — The No. 6 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions had their toughest test of the season when they welcomed the No. 15 Oregon Institute of Technology Owls on Saturday. Despite the fierce Owl defensive pressure, the Lady Lions were able to earn the 68-51 victory.
In the first quarter, the Lady Lions (9-0) struggled with the OIT defense, committing six turnovers. To their credit, Freed-Hardeman forced as many turnovers; however, neither team capitalized on those giveaways with a combined eight points off of turnovers in the first 10 minutes.

Elli Chumley would add late points in the frame before
Alaina Stiles' 3-pointer gave FHU a 19-12 lead after one quarter.
The second quarter was, by far, the highest-scoring with the Lady Lions and the Owls (3-2) combining for 46 points.
Brooklyn Crouch hit early jumpers to keep FHU's lead intact before
Lilly Kee took over the paint to score nine points in the quarter. Crouch had a buzzer-beating layup to end the first half with FHU in the lead 44-33.
Ally Weathers opened the second half with a jumper before
Jenna Satterly would score 11 of the next 13 Freed-Hardeman points. The sophomore scored seven in the span of 60 seconds with her jumper at 6:08 putting FHU on top 55-37. Her layup with 24 ticks in the quarter set the score heading into the final frame at 59-43.
Both J. Satterly and R. Satterly kept putting points on the board for the Lady Lions. Though Oregon Tech scored eight of the last 10 points, the Lady Lions were able to claim victory 68-51.
FHU shot 47% from the floor, including a tally of six 3-pointers. Though Oregon Tech played nine players to FHU's eight, the Lady Lion bench outscored the Owls 28-10.
Jenna Satterly led all scorers with a 19-point effort, followed by 12 from
Brooklyn Crouch.
Lilly Kee chipped in with 11 points while
Rachel Satterly ended with 10. All eight Lady Lions to hit the floor grabbed at least three rebounds, with
Ally Weathers' four assists leading the way.
