MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions took a trip to Alabama where they battled the No. 18 Faulkner (Ala.) University Eagles. Despite a late comeback, the Lions were unable to match the Eagles and fell 8-5.
The Lions (9-5) had their first real opportunity in the top of the second after a single, walk, and hit-by-pitch loaded the bases with Lions, but Faulkner managed to escape danger.
In the fourth inning Faulkner (8-1) scored with a single before a two-run error have the Eagles a four-run lead.
FHU had a big sixth inning with RBIs from
JJ Pruneau,
Hunter Ryan, and
Dawson Massengale. Pruneau would later have an RBI double; however, the eagles scored the last three runs of the game to claim victory.
JJ Pruneau led the Lions with three base hits while
Cam Madding had two of FHU's eight hits.
Colton Bryant had the start where he struck out five Eagles in 3 1/3 innings of action. Hurling four arms out of the pen, the Lions' pitcher of record was
Cole Lannom (1-1).
