Women's basketball ends regular season with ranked win

HENDERSON — The No. 7 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions celebrated senior day after their matchup with the No. 11 Georgetown College Tigers. The Lady Lions stood firm in the paint by outscoring GC 40-20 on the way to a 61-48 win to wrap up the regular season.

It was a back-and-forth first half that began with the Lady Lions (24-4, 8-4 MSC) falling behind by five points before Kelsey Bender and Lilly Kee tallied layups before Kaylee Odom bucketed some jumpers in the key to end the first quarter tied up 10-10.

To prove the evenness of the squads, the second quarter featured the exact same 10-10 score of the first quarter. The Georgetown (20-7, 6-6 MSC) offense tallied seven unanswered points before Lilly Kee wrapped up the first half with four points to end the half in a 20-20 stalemate.

The Lady Lions began to create separation in the third quarter when Rachel Satterly netted a 3-pointer before Jenna Satterly scored an old-fashioned three point play. R. Satterly and Bender capped a 10-point run that ended with FHU leading 40-31 after three complete quarters.

Odom took control in the fourth quarter, scoring seven points to give FHU a regular season finale victory 61-48.

The Lady Lions shot 47.8% from the field while holding the Tigers to a 30.8% mark. FHU held strong at the glass by recording 36 rebounds to Georgetown's 25.

Rachel Satterly tallied a team-high 17 points while Kaylee Odom celebrated her senior day with 15 points. Jenna Satterly notched 10 points. Kelsey Bender ended with a team-high 11 rebounds.
