FHU earns big league victory

HENDERSON — Finally returning home the Freed-Hardeman University Lions grabbed their first Mid-South Conference win of the season by besting the Campbellsville University Tigers 6-1.

With their new No. 31 doubles ranking FHU (7-9, 1-3 MSC) duo Merlin Bolema/Maxime Guyon defended it well with a 6-2 victory on the No. 2 doubles court. Pablo Poleo/Quentin Ferron grabbed a 6-1 victory to earn the doubles points before Carlos Garcia/Nolan Laduree won 6-3.

Maxime Guyon won an instant classic on the No. 2 singles court 4-6, 7-2(7), 1-0(9) over his Campbellsville (0-13, 0-2 MSC) opponent while Pablo Poleo won his match 7-6(3), 6-1. The sting of Merlin Bolema's 6-1, 6-3 defeated was lessened by Nolan Laduree and Carlos Garcia both taking home victories with the former winning 6-0, 6-3 and the latter 6-3, 6-0. The final match of the day was a victory by retirement for Quentin Ferron.
