Lion rackets fall in semis

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Facing the top seed of the tournament, the five-seed Freed-Hardeman University Lions fell to the No. 6 Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders 4-0 in the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Championship.

Carlos Garcia/Nolan Laduree fell on the No. 3 doubles court before a top-40 match featured #31 Merlin Bolema/Maxime Guyon for the Lions (9-11) and the #22 pairing for LWC. The Blue Raiders claimed the match and the doubles point with a 6-1 victory. Pablo Poleo/Quentin Ferron were trailing 5-2 before leaving the match unfinished.

Lindsey Wilson (14-3) had four of their singles players ranked, but it was two unranked Blue Raiders to help clinch the victory. Pablo Poleo fell to the #22 player 6-0, 6-1 before Carlos Garcia and Nolan Laduree both fell 6-3, 6-0. Maxime Guyon was behind 6-2, 5-2 to the #65 Blue Raider when the match was left unfinished while Merlin Bolema took #37 to a tiebreaker before falling behind 7-6(3), 4-1 when the match was abandoned. On the No. 3 court, Quentin Ferron was fighting for an upset over the #15 player where he won the first set 6-3 before the match was clinch and left the second set unfinished.

The Lions improved their overall win total by five matches from 2024 to 2025 while picking up two more Mid-South Conference victories than last season.
