MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Despite finishing the first half in a 0-0 stalemate, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions fell to the Faulkner University Lady Eagles by a 3-0 score.
FHU (0-1-1) had a pair of early shots from
Tsielo Mokebe and
Ellie Wood before
Ava Pierce survived a flurry of shots from Faulkner. In the opening 45 minutes the Eagles had fired eight shots with Pierce keeping all six on-target shots out of the net. On the other side of the pitch the Lady Lions notched five shots with one being on goal.
Seven minutes into the second frame, Faulkner (1-0-0) got on the board after a corner kick was headed into the net. At 59:26 the Eagles added a second goal before collecting their third goal in the 81st minute. The Lady Lions increased their shot total by three while putting three more shots on target.
Alexia Lorenzo-Pereira and
Ellie Wood led the offense with two shots on goal each.
Ava Pierce had nine saves in the match.
