MCKENZIE, Tenn. — Visiting the Wildcats of Bethel University, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions volleyball team came up short in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-15) loss on Friday.
After falling behind early the Lady Lions (11-7, 0-2 MSC) battled back with a set of kills from
Iza Wos and before
Audrey Orton's service ace knotted the opening set 8-8. Betthel answered back by scoring six of the next seven points. A short rally at the end of the set narrowed the deficit but FHU fell in the opener 25-21.
The Lady Lions answered with a match-high 14 kills in the second set.
Hope Breen helped the Lady Lions with a set of kills; however, it was a late 6-0 run from Bethel (5-6, 1-1 MSC) that helped push the hosts to win the set 25-17 to take a 2-0 match lead.
In the third set the Lady Lions registered a service ace from Wos, but the Wildcats won the set 25-15 to claim the league match.
Hope Breen led the FHU attack with 10 kills while
Audrey Orton and
Avery Young each tallied 11 digs.
