Box Score The Lady Lions traveled to St. Louis, Mo. for a mid-week showdown against Harris-Stowe State in their final non-conference match of the season. The Hornets wasted no time, with Emma Noelle Ralfes heading a corner kick from Clara Pelegrina into the goal just 3:30 into the game. Ten minutes later, the Hornets had a free kick that was saved by keeper Layla Olson off the crossbar, but Keziah Oluoch was in the right spot at the right time and was able to kick in the rebound for an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Lions were able to take five shots, three landed on goal, but were unable to capitalize on the attempts, and entered the half down 2-0.Â
Fifteen minutes into the second, Alexia Lorenzo-Pereira was able to steal the ball from the Hornet defense, and launched a shot from outside the keeper's box, over the head of the goalie to put FHU on the board and cut the lead to one. With about seven minutes remaining in the match, Maria Paz Mora Silva, in for FHU at keeper, made a save, but once again the Hornets were able to capitalize on a rebound, this time coming from the foot of Naomi Mangiapane. This would be the final goal of the match, and a final score of 3-1.
The Lady Lions were able to put four of their six shots on goal, with an on-goal percentage of .667. Paz Mora Silva saved seven of the eight shots she faced in her 74 minutes of action, with the one goal given up coming off a rebounded save.
The Lady Lions will return home on Saturday to host Georgetown at 2 pm at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
