Lady Lions wrap regular season with big win

HENDERSON — Finishing the 2025-26 regular season at home, the No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions picked up a big victory over the (RV) Cumberland Phoenix, 79-48.

Freed-Hardeman (24-3, 9-3 MSC) was off to a fast start with Jenna Satterly draining a 3-pointer for the first basket of the game before Ally Weathers made a layup at 8:41. Brooklyn Crouch bookended an 8-0 Lady Lion run with a 3-pointer at 7:07 before her layup at 5:16 put FHU ahead by 10 points. Cumberland answered with five unanswered points, but Elli Chumley's layup opened a nine-point run for the Lady Lions that ended at the buzzer with a Satterly triple to put FHU on top 22-8.

Though Cumberland (15-12, 1-10 MSC) scored the first points of the second quarter, Weathers' layup was followed by six straight points from Lilly Kee to push FHU's lead to 30-10. The Phoenix picked up late baskets including two 3-pointers in the last three minutes, but Weathers and Crouch ended the half with layups to give FHU a 38-20 edge at the break.

CU came out in the second half by scoring eight of the first 10 points before the Lady Lions were sent to the free-throw line 14 times in the third quarter. FHU converted 13 of those to go with field goals from Weathers, Crouch, and a 3-pointer from Rachel Satterly to put FHU ahead 58-41.

The Lady Lions stormed ahead in the fourth frame with J. Satterly's triple igniting a 10-point swing to make the FHU lead 27 points. Chumley scored four late points before J. Satterly's old-fashioned three-point play put a bow on the 79-48 victory.

FHU's defense forced Cumberland to shoot just 26% from the field while the Lady Lions had a 53% shooting night. FHU dominated the defensive glass by out-rebounding Cumberland 30-16.

Jenna Satterly led FHU's offense with 24 points, going 8-9 from the floor while also securing a shared team-high six rebounds. Ally Weathers was just behind her with 21 points and six boards while Brooklyn Crouch chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
