TEXARKANA, Texas — Despite battling throughout singles play, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions fell to the (RV) Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles, 6-1.
The Lady Lions (1-3) were unable to secure the doubles point as Vanessa Avila Padilla and Suri Gomez dropped the No. 1 doubles match 6-1. Morgan Brown and Elise Kruzan fell 6-4 on the No. 2 court while Kennley Kirk and Anna Harder were defeated 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, giving the Eagles the early 1-0 lead.
In singles action, Kruzan earned the lone point over the Eagles (8-1) with a win by opponent retirement on the No. 2 court. Gomez fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Brown came up short 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 3 court. Harder dropped her match 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, and Kirk was defeated 6-3, 6-0 on the No. 5 court. Audrey Harder fell 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to round out the match.
