HENDERSON — The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lions and the Reinhardt (Ga.) University Eagles combined for 26 runs on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions would come out on the wrong side of an 18-8 final score.
The Lions (25-11) were down early after the visitors scored four runs in the top of the first inning; however, FHU answered with a three-run bottom half of the frame thanks in park to an RBI double from
Brooks Jones. A solo homer from
Alejandro Diaz got the bottom of the fourth started, with
Brennen Gibson's RBI double tying the game 6-6.
Reinhardt (15-23) immediately took back the lead on the top of the fifth before having five-run innings in the sixth and the eighth innings to keep the game out of reach of he Lions.
Brenned Gibson had the only multi-hit game for the Lions with two base hits, while
Alejandro Diaz drove in a team-high two runs.
Grayson Waller who had no decision after a 2 2/3 inning start before handing the game over to the bullpen.
Ryan Sanchez (2-2) was the first of four Lion relievers, being charged with the loss with 2 1/3 innings where he struck out three batters.
