Despite losing some talent from last year's roster, the women's soccer team is also returning key players with experience and production. Twelve returning players will look to lead the team to an improved season after finishing last season winless.
Three forwards will look to lead the attack with Tsielo Mokebe, Isabel Croke, and Catherine Harris all coming back. Together they have 20 career points, with Croke having three goals and five assists (11pts.), Harris three goals (6pts.), and Mokebe one goal and one assist (3pts.) They will be joined by transfer Marta Martin and freshmen Nathany Ibanez and Maggie Reed.
The midfield group will be bringing a lot of experience with 111 games and 36 points between the four returners. Addison Bolema and Sophia Haddad de Lima each have six goals and one assist (13pts.), Alexia Lorenzo-Pereira four goals (8pts.), and Morakane Mokhothu adds one goal (2pts.).Â
The defensive line will also return four players from last season. Abby Schwarz, who has a career 11 points, Sophia Sibilev, Gracie Trice, and Lydia Ramos all started games for the Lady Lions last season and will look to make life easier on the keeper this season.Â
Avery Branch was in the goal for nine games last season and saved 29 shots with a save percentage of 0.644
The Lady Lions will kick off their season against LSU Alexandria at home on August 21 at 7pm.
