Lady Lions Soccer Take Two Road Losses

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lady Lions opened their weekend by playing Madonna (Mich.) at a neutral site at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. on Friday, August 29 at noon. Despite a higher number of shots than their season opener, 9 shots and 6 on goal, the Lady Lions still were unable to find the back of the net. Maria Par Mora Silva came in to relief in the second half for Freed-Hardeman, and would make 4 saves and not give up a goal. This would prove to be too little too late as Madonna was able to net three goals in the first half that would be enough to carry them to a 3-0 victory.

The Lady Lions would then travel to Owensboro, Ky. to take on Brescia on Saturday for a 3 pm game. The first half was evenly matched with FHU taking five shots to Brescia's seven. The only difference would be Brescia being able to score an early goal in the 10th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. A feisty second half that included seven yellow cards, would see Brescia take ten more shots, and the Lady Lions take five more shots, but none were able to find their way past the keepers, resulting in a 1-0 loss for the Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions will return home for their next game against Point on Thursday, September 3rd at 7pm at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
