HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Lion baseball team got two easy wins on Thursday as their games scheduled against Rust (Miss.) College were forfeited by the visitors.
The games were originally scheduled to be played at Rust, but the location changed to Freed-Hardeman last week. Rust then forfeited both games for undisclosed reasons.
The Lions (24-11, 4-2) get the extra day of rest heading into an important conference series with No. 13 Bethel (Tenn.) University. FHU is a game ahead of the Wildcats (23-5-1, 3-3) in the TranSouth Conference standings and in a three-way tie for first place. The three-game series opens on Friday at 2:00 PM with a single nine-inning game and concludes with a double-header beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
