Box Score JACKSON, Miss. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions swept a double-header from Tougaloo (Miss.) College on Monday, 9-0 and 7-1, to keep their hot streak alive.
The Lions (18-8) have won 11 of their last 13 games.
In game one,
Charlie Overturf (2-2) threw four hitless innings while FHU's offense did its damage early.
Jake Todd's bases-loaded double in the third gave Freed-Hardeman a 5-0 lead as part of a four-run inning. The Lions put three more on the board in the fourth on RBI singles by
Evan Mansell and
Ben Ihde.
A big inning made the difference in the second game, as the Lions scored six times in the top of the fourth to break a scoreless tie.
Josh Goodwin and
Justin Mackey both had run-scoring singles, and
Kyle Dearing had a two-run double.
Robert Prieto added an RBI single in the sixth for FHU's final run.
Matt Singleton (2-0) allowed one hit and struck out six over four innings to earn the win.
The Lions return to the field with a single game against Belhaven (Miss.) University on Wednesday at Carnes Field at 2:00 PM.
