Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions statistically dominated their match with Bob Jones (S.C.) University, but came up on the wrong end of the scoreboard in a 1-0 loss to the Bruins on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Lions kept the ball on the Bruins' end of the field for a good portion of the first half and the majority of the second half, leading to a 19-5 advantage in shots. But BJU keeper Tessa Hoskinson made several impressive saves, keeping FHU off the scoreboard.
The match's only goal came in the 24th minute when Lauren Peek dribbled through the Lady Lion defense into the left side of the box, then got clear to rip a shot over the hands of Abbey Adkins.
FHU had three great looks at the goal late in the first half but Hoskinson stopped them all, including a hard strike by Morgan Walls from 20 yards out heading under the crossbar. A backpedaling Hoskinson was able to leap at the last moment and knock the ball over the frame.
The Lady Lions dominated the run of play in the second half and took 11 shots, several of which came inside the box, but Hoskinson was up to the task making four saves at close range. She ended the match with 13 saves.
Freed-Hardeman (3-9-2) returns to the field tomorrow with a conference match against Stephens (Mo.) College at noon.
