Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions avenged one of their two losses of the season, jumping ahead early on Belhaven (Miss.) University on their way to a 10-1 win on Wednesday afternoon at Carnes Field.
The Lions (20-2-1) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with a four-run first inning highlighted by Joe Mike's two-run single. Two innings later, Mike delivered a two-run home run to extend FHU's lead to 7-0.
That was more than enough for Freed-Hardeman starter Dan Creighton, who scattered four hits over eight innings and allowed only an unearned run in the fifth. Creighton (5-0) struck out five while walking no one and lowered his season ERA to 0.55.
FHU had 10 hits on the day, five of which went for extra bases. Mike finished the day with three hits and five RBIs while Garrett Ferguson had a pair of RBI doubles. Bobby Seda and Kyle Dearing also had two hits for the Lions.
The Lions return to action tomorrow with a nine-inning game at NCAA Division II provisional member Union (Tenn.) University at 5:00 PM.
