Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions rebounded from a 2-1 loss on Friday night to rout Blue Mountain (Miss.) College in both ends of a double-header, 12-2 and 10-4, on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (23-3-1) blew the first game open scoring 11 of their 12 runs in the third through fifth innings.
It started with a three-run homerun by Ryan Huber with one out. Joe Mike added an RBI double in the inning to make it a 5-0 lead. FHU came back with three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth, capped by a two-run double by Garrett Ferguson.
Ryan Fares (5-0) carried a shutout into the sixth inning before BMC scored a pair of runs. He gave up four hits in six innings and struck out four.
In the finale, the Lions used a seven-run third inning to take control, highlighted by Ferguson's three-run homerun with two outs. FHU added three more in the fifth on a bases-clearing double by Lincoln Lakoff.
Greg Young (2-0) earned the win, allowing two runs over five innings while striking out six.
Huber and Justin Mackey both had two hits in game one while six Lions all had one hit in game two.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, hosting Cumberland (Tenn.) University at 4:00 PM in a single game.
