HENDERSON, Tenn. - Former TranSouth Conference foe Martin Methodist (Tenn.) scored in every inning from the third to the seventh, taking a mid-week contest from the No. 25 Freed-Hardeman Lions on Monday and ending FHU's winning streak at five games.

A three-run third gave the RedHawks a lead they would hold the rest of the game, adding a run in the fourth and four in the fifth to take a 9-5 lead and chase FHU starter Daniel Wallace. MMC then picked up three more runs over the next two frames to lead 12-5.

The Lions tried to rally with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, but couldn't make up the deficit.

Zach Quillian got the Lions on the board in the second with a solo home run, and FHU added two more in the third on a single by Robert Prieto and double by Cole Veazey.

But Freed-Hardeman (19-8) was unable to match the RedHawks' run production, although hits were nearly even at 17 for FHU and 16 for MMC.

The Lions missed a chance to make up more ground in the seventh after scoring twice, leaving the bases loaded.

Kyle Dearing and Lincoln Lakoff both went 3-for-5 while Storm Bates went 3-for-4. Veazey and Prieto each added two hits; Veazey drove in three runs.

FHU returns to the diamond tomorrow with a single game at Union (Tenn.) University at 3:00 PM.
