Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HENDERSON, Tenn. - Nolan Huber tossed a seven-hit shutout as the Freed-Hardeman Lions opened a three-game series at Benedictine-Springfield (Ill.) with a 9-0 win.

Zac Carter hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run third that put the Lions (17-8, 5-4) up 5-0. FHU added a pair of runs in the fifth and eighth innings, which proved to be more than enough for Huber.

Huber (4-2) tossed the first complete-game shutout of his career, striking out five and walking one while overcoming five errors behind him.

J.C. Daily went 4-for-5 out of the leadoff spot and swiped two bases. Pete Trollinger and Nathan Van Nortwick each went 2-for-5.

The series concludes with a double-header tomorrow at noon.
