SETTING THE STAGE

FHU (20-7, 7-2 AMC) enters Tuesday's match-up with Blue Mountain College coming off one win and two losses at Park (Mo.) University this past weekend.

Brandon Guske worked seven full innings and fanned seven batters while allowing just two hits in the opening game win on Friday. Although FHU pounded out just four hits in the game, they were able to capitalize on errors made by Park's defense to put some runs on the board.

Pete Trollinger and Nate Van Nortwick each had two RBI's in the contest to account for a majority of the runs for the Lions. Chase Young, Griffin Siebert, Zac Quillian and Nate Van Nortwick all went 1-for-3 on the day to help the Lions secure the 5-0 shutout.

The Pirates came to play in the second game of the series Friday as they pounded out 13 hits and scored nine runs to dominate the nightcap. The Lions struggled to get their bats going early on, but managed to connect on eight hits, a majority of which came late in the game.

Nolan Huber suffered the loss in the second game after working three and two-thirds innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs. Kyle Douglas came in relief of Huber and worked four innings and gave up five hits and two runs to close things out for the Lions.

Houston Looser led the Lions at the plate in the nightcap as he went 3-for-4 on the day and added three RBI's and two double's to keep FHU in the game. J.C. Daily also contributed at the plate as he went 1-for-3 on the day with two scored runs and a stolen base. The Lions struggled to get things going in the final game of the series with Park University as they were shutout for the first time this season with a 4-0 loss.

Jack Coleman suffered the loss in the final game of the series Saturday as he worked just one and two-thirds innings and gave up six hits and four runs. Jared Humphry would provide five solid innings of relief to stop the bleeding as he allowed just three hits and struck out two to keep the Pirates quiet for the remainder of the game.

The Pirates did a majority of their damage early in the game as they would push two runs across in the bottom of the first inning followed by two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Although Park would be limited to just three hits to finish out the game, the damage would already be done as they cruised to a 4-0 victory to hand the Lions their second conference loss of the season.

The Lions will look to rebound from a two-game slide this past weekend as they take on the Toppers Tuesday afternoon in Blue Mountain, Miss.
