Lady Lions Cruise To 9th Win; Down Hannibal 91-36

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Basketball team cruised to their ninth straight win Thursday evening, as they picked up a convincing 91-36 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University at the Brewer Sports Center.

The Lady Lions had plenty of offense to go around, as four players reached double digits in the match-up. Haylee Croom led the way for FHU (9-0, 4-0 AMC), as she fired in 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win.

Carrie Hatchel followed close behind with 15 points after shooting an impressive 4-for-7 from behind the arc while Chynia Brooks chipped in 14 points. Freshman Allie Crumpler logged solid minutes off the bench for the Lady Lions and rounded out FHU's attack with 13 points.

The Lady Lions shot an impressive 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc in the match-up compared to Hannibal-LaGrange University (2-7, 0-4 AMC), who shot just 38 percent from the field and 18 percent from behind the arc.

The Lady Lions kept Hannibal-LaGrange on their heels the entire evening with their high pressure defense, as they forced an impressive 24 turnovers and snagged 17 steals, led by Brooks and Reagen Floyd, who each had three steals apiece in the victory.

FHU dominated the match-up from the opening tip, as they limited the Trojans to just six points in the first quarter while firing in 30 points of their own to take a commanding lead in the early going. The momentum continued in the second quarter, as the Lady Lions tacked on 18 more points to take a 48-18 lead entering the break.

The second half was much of the same for the Lady Lions, as they extended their lead to as many as 55 points at the end of regulation to take a convincing 91-36 victory. With the win, the Lady Lions remain unbeaten and move to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Hannibal-LaGrange falls to 2-7 on the season and 0-4 in AMC play with the loss.
