HENDERSON, Tenn. – After a few schedule changes and rainouts, the Lions baseball team (7-4) finally got to play its own field and took two games from Lindsey Wilson College (0-6) on Saturday afternoon.
It was a double-header scheduled for one nine-inning game followed by a seven-inning contest, but the Lions made quick work of the first game, winning 11-1 and finishing the game in just seven innings due to a run rule.
Christian Busby and Will McCall both went 3-for-4 in game one, with McCall bringing in four runs and Busby bringing in three.
Austin Steel got the start on the bump and went the full seven innings, only giving up one earned run and striking out six batters with no walks.
Game two of the day was slated for seven innings, and it ended very similarly to game one, with the Lions winning 10-2.
It was behind the bats of the All-American Josh Sears and the transfer centerfielder Dom Pisano, who both hit long balls in the contest. Sears hit his two-run shot – his first home run of the year – in the opening inning, followed by Pisano's two-run home run in the bottom of the second.
De'Mikyle Holmes also brought in two runs off a double that flew the wall, but came just short of going over.
Jacob Sawyers got the start on the mound and earned the win after going five innings with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Landon Sewell and Tyrek White each came on in relief for an inning, with White closing out the game in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lions are scheduled to take on Martin Methodist College at home in a double-header on Monday beginning at 1 p.m.
