ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Lions baseball team (27-7, 15-2 AMC) split its first two games against Louisiana State University-Alexandria (17-12, 6-6 RRAC) on the long road trip, winning game one 11-0, but falling 10-3 in game two.

It was a dominating performance in the first game of the evening, with the Lions scoring three runs in the top of the third inning and six in the top of the fourth.

They added one more in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

Josh Sears and Collin McPherson each had two RBIs in the contest. McPherson and Collin Baber had the only extra-base hits, McPherson with a double and Baber with a triple.

The senior All-American Tyson Campbell got the start on the mound and went the full seven innings. It was a solid outing for the transfer, striking out 11 batters and surrendering no walks.

Game two went a different direction for the Lions, as the Generals were able to jump out to a quick lead and keep Freed-Hardeman at bay.

They went up 2-0 after scoring one run in both the first and second innings. The Lions got one back in the top of the third when Baber was brought in by Sears on a sacrifice fly.

LSU-Alexandria quickly extended its lead after scoring four runs in the bottom half of the third.

The Lions would score one run in both the fourth and fifth innings, but four more runs for the Generals in the bottom of the sixth put the game out of reach.

Tyler Duskin, Drew Bailey and Seth Selby each spent time on the mound for the visitors. Bailey led the way for the three pitchers with three strikeouts. Selby added two and Duskin finished with one.

The Lions will travel to New Orleans on Tuesday to take on Loyola University in a double-header beginning at 4 p.m.
