ASHLAND, Mo. – The Lions (15-4, 7-0 AMC) extended their win streak to 13, still unbeaten in American Midwest Conference play, with a 4-3 win over Columbia College (8-7, 4-3 AMC) on Thursday night, after the game had to be pushed back twice due to field conditions.

Collin McPherson led the Lions with three RBIs and two hits in the contest, including a two-run, two-out homerun in the top of the first inning.

The senior first baseman extended the visitors' lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning on a two-out single that brought in De'Mikyle Holmes after he reached on a walk.

The Cougars cut into the lead, making it a one-run game, in the bottom of the fourth after a single and a double brought in back-to-back runs.

The game would go scoreless for three innings before the Lions were able to go up by two off the bat of Dom Pisano in the top of the eighth.

The junior was able to drive in Collin Baber – pinch running for McPherson – on a two-out double.

The Cougars answered in the bottom half of the inning, but the one run wouldn't be enough to extend the game.

Alex Huey started the game on the mound and went seven and one third innings before Landon Sewell took over to finish the game.

Huey struck out six batters in the win and earn his fourth straight victory. Sewell was able to strike out two batters in his one and two-thirds innings.

The Lions will be back in action to complete the three-game series against Columbia on Friday, with game one beginning at 10 a.m.
