MCKENZIE, Tenn. – A lot of runs were scored on Tuesday night, but the Lions (36-14, 23-4 AMC) fell 9-6 to the Wildcats of Bethel University (26-17, 13-10 SSAC) in the final non-conference matchup of the regular season.

The Wildcats got off to a hot start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning to put the Lions in a large, early deficit.

The visitors were able to battle back, though, in the top of the second, scoring three runs of their own to get back within one.

Will McCall, Dom Pisano and Hunter Beecham all scored in the inning, two of the runs coming off the bat of De'Mikyle Holmes, who went 3-for-4 in the game with three total RBIs.

After getting back into the game in the second, the Lions had a tough time keeping Bethel off the board. The Wildcats would go on to score one run in the bottom of the third, three runs in the fourth and a final run in the seventh.

Pisano had a solid day at the plate, getting on base three times in a 1-for-2 outing. He had two of the six RBIs. The sixth run came off the bat of Christian Busby, who had a 2-for-5 evening. He also had the only extra-base hit with a double in the fifth.

The Lions will close out the season at home with a three-game series against American Midwest Conference foe Harris-Stowe. There is a double-header scheduled for Friday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game on Saturday at 12 noon.
