HENDERSON, Tenn. – The No. 7 Lions (39-14, 26-4 AMC) closed out their regular season with a 9-4 win over Harris-Stowe (20-26, 13-15 AMC) on Saturday, completing the three-game series sweep.
Isaac Howeth continued his monster series on Saturday, going 2-for-4 in the contest with a three-run home run and a triple, his second of the series.
His his home run in the bottom of the first only scored three of the five runs in the inning. The other two runs came off the bat of Zach Sanders, who brought in Josh Sears and Collin McPherson. Those were two of the freshman's five RBIs in the game.
His other three game in the bottom of the sixth with the Lions scored for runs to put the game out of reach. He hit a double in the inning, scoring Sears, Dalton Lankford and De'Mikyle Holmes in a bases-loaded situation with two outs.
Jacob Sawyers got the win on the mound, going five innings and striking out seven batters. The Lions three other pitchers in the contest, with Drew Bailey striking out two in his one inning, Tyrek White putting out four in his two innings, and Landon Sewell capping off the ninth with two strikeouts.
The Lions will wait and see who their first opponent will be in the upcoming American Midwest Conference Tournament in Joplin, Missouri. They will play the opening game against the No. 8 seed at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
