Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lions baseball team (22-21, 15-7 MSC) clinched the final series of the regular season with a 13-9 win over Martin Methodist (11-22, 7-15 MSC) on Saturday afternoon.
After trailing 1-0 after two innings, the Lions offense caught fire, scoring five runs in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-out RBI double from Dom Pisano that scored DeJhard Kimbrough.
The Redhawks added another run to make it 5-2 in the fourth, but a leadoff home run by Josh Sears in the top of the fifth and a two-RBI single in the sixth made it a 10-2 Lions lead.
Martin Methodist responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth, but an RBI single by Beau Simpson and a two-run home run by Sears extended the Lions lead in the seventh inning, which the Redhawks couldn't overcome.
It was a strong start for freshman Colton Huntt on the mound, going five innings with eight strikeouts in the win. Connor Creasy had four strikeouts in three innings of relief.
