Box Score 2 PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lions baseball team (21-21, 14-7 MSC) split games one and two of its final regular-season series against Martin Methodist (11-20, 7-14 MSC) on Friday, dropping game one 10-7, but taking game two 1-0.
Preseason All-American Alex Huey threw a gem on the mound for the Lions in game two, going the full seven innings while striking out 10 Redhawks and only surrendering three hits and zero walks in the win.
The lone Lions run came in the top of the sixth inning after Zach Saners led the inning off with a single and advanced to second base on a groundout. He was brought around to score on a single by Josh Sears to left field.
Game one of the day was an offensive showcase with the Redhawks striking first in the first inning with four runs.
After going down 7-3 after three innings, the Lions attempted a comeback, scoring three runs to make it 7-6 after five innings, but Martin Methodist held them off and took the game-one win.
The Lions will conclude their regular season on Saturday with a single contest against the Redhawks starting at 1 p.m.
