Lions dominate Pikeville in game-one win

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lions baseball team (23-21, 16-7 MSC) knocked off Pikeville (12-33, 6-19 MSC) 11-1 in a seven-inning run rule on Friday, putting them one win away from advancing to the final site at the Mid-South Conference Tournament.

It was all Lions from the start when Alex Huey struck out two batters in the top of the first, followed by four runs from the home squad, highlighted by a leadoff home run from Zach Sanders and a two-run shot by Beau Simpson.

The Lions weren't done sending baseballs over the wall when Josh Sears hit his 19th home run of the season in a 2-for-4 outing.

The Lions were able to end the game early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 11-1 thanks to the run rule.

Huey went the full seven innings in the win, striking out 13 batters and not surrendering a walk.

The Lions will look to advance to the final site in Bowling Green with a matchup with Pikeville tomorrow at 12 noon.
