Lions Drop Series Finale

The Freed-Hardeman University Lions (11-4, 2-1 MSC) fell to the Tigers of Campbellsville University (4-8, 1-2 MSC) by a score of 3-0.  The Lions were unable to put together timely hits when it mattered.

Colton Huntt was the starting hurler for the Lions.  Huntt was able to work very efficiently in the first.  The Lions were unable to get anything going in the bottom of the inning.

The Tigers were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead after Huntt surrendered a solo homerun.  He was able to limit the damage to only that and escaped the inning.  The Lions went down quietly again in the second.

Campbellsville threatened to extend their lead in the third, but Huntt was able to strand two runners.  The Lions could not put anything together to score.

The Tigers were able to scratch another run across in the top of the fourth.  The new score was 2-0.  The Lions' bats stayed silent.

Campbellsville tacked on another run in the fifth after a sacrifice fly.  The Lions could not get things rolling in the bottom part of the inning.

Huntt exited after 5 innings of work allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.  Culley entered for relief.  Culley struck out two in his first inning of work.  The Lions went down 1-2-3.

Culley returned and held the Tigers to no runs once more.  The Lions went down quietly again in the seventh.

Culley exited after 2 innings pitched allowing 0 runs on 0 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.  Luis Torrez-Lopez entered for relief.  The Tigers threatened but Torrez was able to strand two runners and work out of the jam.  The Lions went 3 up 3 down in the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, Torrez was able to get three quick outs.  The Lions looked like they were going to string together a comeback but their hopes were cut down.  Huntt received the loss.

The Lions will travel to Lyon College Tuesday for a 9 inning game.
