They would go on to score one in each of the final three innings of the game. Huey exited after 6.1 innings of work allowing eight runs on eleven hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts. The Lions hitters were slow to start in the game. The Lions first scored in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI double from Zach Sanders and a sacrifice fly from Kent Rooklin. The score after the fourth was 7-2. A few innings later in the sixth, Will McCall homered to cut down on the Blue Raider's lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Ryan Stark smashed a 3-run opposite field homer to make the score 9-6. In the last inning, it seemed like the Lions were sure to complete their comeback. Another 3-run blast from McCall made the score 10-6. With the bases loaded and two outs on the board everyone was expecting a big-time hit but the Lions fell 10-9. Huey received the loss.
The Lions still have a great opportunity to put on a show on Senior Day today at Five Wells Field starting at 12. Senior Ceremonies will begin shortly before Game 2 of the series.
