GWINNETT, Ga. — Competing as individuals before the team season begins in the spring, Freed-Hardeman University's men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's South Regional.
On the singles side,
Brayden Martin was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Tennessee Wesleyan's Octavio Volpi, while
Maxime Guyon was bested by Reinhardt (Ga.) University's Federico Zelter 6-0, 6-1.
Nolan Laduree was bested by Georgia Gwinnett's Charly Zick 6-1, 6-0 and
Merlin Bolema lost 6-1, 6-0 to Khalil of Reinhardt.
The only Lion to make it through the opening round was
Theo Devals, whose 6-1, 6-3 victory over Point (Ga.) University's Bryant Morales earned him a trip to the second round where hosting GGC Grrizly Maihailo Radosavljevic defeated the Frenchman 7-5, 6-4.
The doubles team of
Nolan Laduree and
Braden Young advanced to tomorrow's second round with an 8-5 victory over the SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) duo of Woodman/Karpe.
Merlin Bolema and
Maxime Guyon will open their doubles competition tomorrow.
