OTTAWA, Kan. — Adjusting their spring break schedule to allow the opportunity for the No. 22 Freed-Hardeman University Lions to cheer on their men's basketball counterparts, FHU faced (RV) Tabor (Kan.) College Bluejays on the campus of Ottawa (Kan.) University. In a set of seven-inning affairs, the Lions dropped the first game 5-4 before falling 5-2.

A walk and a stolen base in the bottom of the first inning was followed by a single to allow Tabor to take a 1-0 lead over the FHU Lions (23-9). A double-play hoped to get the Lions out of the inning, but a two-out single gave the Bluejays a 2-0 lead.
The Lions saw
Christian Presley smack an RBI double into right-center field before an RBI took the sting out of a double play to tie the Bluejays 19-8 up 2-2. After
Jordan Carter doubled down the left field line,
Cade Fuller powered a ball over the fence in left to finish up a four-run third inning.Â
Those four runs proved the be the only ones the Lions could muster while the Bluejays tied the game in the fifth before adding the 5-4 game winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Matthew Riley (4-2) went the distance for FHU where he struck out eight Tabor batters.
Christian Presley tallied a pair of hits while
Cade Fuller drove in two.

Freed-Hardeman (23-10) hoped to be in business after
Christian Presley beat a throw for an infield single before being able to take second after a late throw went wide. The Lions would record three outs and the early threat proving harmless
The Bluejays (20-8) scored a run in the bottom of the first before
Jordan Carter plated the first FHU run after scoring due to a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the third a Tabor batter beat out a double-play attempt and drove in a run to set the score at 2-1. A solo shot to lead off the bottom of the fourth was followed by a runner scoring on a wild pitch to see the Lions trail 4-1. A sacrifice fly in the fifth saw the Lion deficit increase to 5-1.
After Cam Maddin led off the top of the seventh with a double, he was able to score thanks to Presley's RBI groundout, but the Lions could not scratch any more across to fall 5-2.
Followed by a platoon effort, starter Tyler Wingar (1-1) wore the loss, striking out three Bluejays in two innings.
The Lions recorded four hits in the loss with
Christian Presley collecting FHU's lone RBI.

The Lions return to Five Wells Field where they will take on the Tigers of Campbellsville (Ky.) University. A single game on March 29 at 5:00 p.m. will be followed by a doubleheader on March 30.
