MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The FHU men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Maryville College Scots Invitational in Maryville, Tenn., on April 12-13, 2024. The men's team finished fifth of ten teams, while the women came in sixth of nine teams.
Sophomore
Megan Lampley won the women's 1500 meter race with a personal best time of 5:14.49, the fourth fastest time in school history. Lampley also finished in second place in the 800 meter race, setting another personal record.
Sophomore
Eliza Poe finished in second place in the 5000 meter race, and freshman
Zola Dorris ran the fourth fastest time in school history in her first ever attempt at the 3000 meter race.
For the men, freshman
Barrett Poe won the 3000 meter steeplechase. Senior
Sean Janiec contributed two high finishes by placing second in the 400 meter race and third in the 200m. In both races Janiec ran the third fastest times in school history.
Freshman
Daniel Puckett set a new school record in the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:05.59, while senior
Nathan Mangrum ran the fifth fastest 10,000 meter race in school history.
In the men's shot put, freshman
Malik James placed third, setting a new personal record. In addition, new personal records were set by
Hayden Cook in the long jump, Cooper Whitney in the 5K, and Puckett in the 800m.
