The Freed-Hardeman track and field teams competed in the Margaret Simmons Invitational 2025 held at Murray State University in Murray, Ky.
On the track for the men, both Jackson Overton (11.34) and Lucas Kirschbaum (12.74) set PRs in the 100m, while Overton also raced in the 200m. Jay Hunt set a PR in the 400m and also competed in the 200m. Daniel Puckett set a four-second PR while coming in sixth place in the 5k. Overton, Greer Davis, Hayden Bland, and Hunt teamed up in the 4x400m relay race and placed 3rd with a time of 3:57. Then, Puckett, Grant O'Neal, Tristan Pharr, and Bo Scott were the only team to compete in the 4x800m relay and finished with a time of 8:51. Over in the field, Lucas Kirschbaum set a new PR in discus with a throw of 87 feet, 0 inches.
Only two girls competed with it being the beginning of Spring Break. Megan Lampley finished the 800m race in 12th place with a time of 2:31, and Mary Pearce finished runner-up in the 5k with a time of 18:12.
The teams will have two weeks off to prepare for their next meet, which is the Bearcat Invitational in Brescia, Ky.
