Lady Lion golf stays put in 11th

DALTON, Ga. — In a field where 11 out of 15 competing teams were either ranked or mentioned in the latest NAIA poll the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions knew their turn at the Lady Roadrunner Fall Invite would be against some of the best in the NAIA. After three rounds the Lady Lions turned in 998 (+134) to finish in 11th place.

After a first round where she tallied eight pars, Hannah Ruth Walton turned things around in the second round where she carded a birdie on the par-4 second hole to keep the same score from the first to the second found. The second day was the big round where she trimmed five strokes off of her previous totals with the help of two birdies. After all three rounds she finished with a share of 40th place with 244 (+28).

Just one stoke behind Walton, Zoe Phillips' 245 (+29) had her keep sole possession of 44th place. Where Walton carded identical scores in the first and second rounds, it was the second and third that ended the same for Phillips. She handled the par-4 holes well, carding one birdie in the first and second rounds before doubling her total in the final round with two par-4 birdies.

Ansley Pratt's second round was the best she turned in, with her carding 11 pars. In her third round she had back-to-back birdies on the par-3 16th and the par-4 17th before finishing with a birdie on the par-3 sixth with the shotgun start to have a three-round 252 (+36).

Getting better each round, Aaricia Noel-Traissac jumped five spots up the leaderboard after improving her second round total by four strokes. Her par-5 fourth hole was followed by another hole under par in the third round with a birdie on the par-3 16h hole. With a tournament score of 257 (+41) she ended in a tie for 65th place.

Maggie Crouch finished FHU's turn in the tournament by improving her score across all three rounds. After a 93 (+21) in the first round she whittled her score down until an 89 (+17) in the second day's play. Finishing in 74th place, she had a 272 (+56).
